Hey all, is there a way to to create a surface that won't show and simply acts as a reference? My understand of creating a 3D line in Creo 4.0 is that you project a line in one dimension onto a surface that captures curves that you want in another dimension. The problem with this approach is that while you can make the surfaces invisible, they still exist. So if I try and export it to a different program for analysis, the planes are imported as actual geometric surfaces (depending on the format of course). Came from SW which doesn't have this problem because 3D lines don't require faces to project on to.

You don't have to necessarily use a surface for projection: you can "intersect" two curves and get a 3d curve without using a surface.
Also, when exporting to other formats, you have options to export only solids, quilts, datums etc and with a bit of fiddling you should be able to filter out surfaces.
