Measure Volume of selected portion in Part

How do i measure a selected portion of an Assembly, For instance when I try to Measure the Volume of a pocket with in a Part model, but it displays the Volume of complete Part.

For me best way to get associativity without having advancend license for assembly or doing complex famility table, is doing an assembly and copy in a new part correct surfaces and solidify.
