When adding additional sheets to a drawing, we have to manually fill in or edit the title block on the added sheets to match the first sheet. Has anyone come up with a way to automate this process.
Most of my information for the title block comes from parameters.
The title block refers to these parameters so when an new sheet is started, the parameters automatically fill in.
Thanks, Dale
How are you filling in the information on the first page? What Dale is referring to is adding the appropriate variable data (relations /parameters) in the part/assembly file that the drawing references. This is how the data remains dynamic. You change it in the model, rather than in the drawing.
We use parameters to fill in the first sheet and they carry over to the second sheet, problem is the date will be wrong because it uses the current date not the created on date and in some cases there will be multiple models used on one drawing, so what ever model is active it will use those relations.
A couple of solutions to those issues:
1 - If you're format picks up the wrong model, change the active model and re-apply the format. Or, if there aren't many parameters, edit the table cell and remove the :XX where XX is the session id. Proe / Creo will then use the active model for that parameter.
2 - We've used a drawing level parameter called 'created_date'. Make sure that parameter does not exit in your start parts and assemblies and set the config option 'make_parameters_from_fmt_tables' to 'yes'. The systems will fill in part or assy level parameters where they exist, but will prompt the user to create a drawing level parameter when the drawing is created for those that do not. Then the value for 'created_date' will be right on all sheets.
Another way to do this would be to save the drawing you are wanting to add the sheet to as another name and then got to Layout -> Insert -> Import Drawing Data -> Select the Drawing which you saved with another name.
I hope this helps....
