Need help creating a compound gear

Need help creating a compound gear

I have a fully parameter-driven spur gear model that I would like to turn into a compound gear. That is, I want to duplicate all the relations and geometry of the original gear (attached to the "back" of the original gear) and be able to vary the parameters of the second gear.

My main problem is that I am a new proe user and don't have much experience with this kind of thing. Is feature copy/paste the way to do it? When I tried this I quickly got bogged down in the old menu manager selecting things like Var Dims, References, and RegenAction and not knowing which options to choose.

Hello

If you create a new part, and then insert the original geometry by the menu "Get Data-Merge/inheritance", and select the inheritance option you will have the model tree of the original part inside this new part, and in adition you can change the values of the features

i hope this help...

Hi Richard,

i know you got your answer, but did you consider using family table functionality, & add the parameters as variables in the table, sounds a little easier than the merge/inheritance route, plus you don't need advances licence. Just a thought.

John
