STEP file imported model tree

When a step file is imported Creo creates a duplicate on the model tree. why does that happen and is there a way to get rid of the unnecessary top level?

How are you bringing the file into Creo?

Creo can open a Solid Works file directly, just change the file selection type and open the file.

Import will bring the Solid Works file into an existing file, thus the part in a part.

The file was created in creo and saved as a step file to have a smaller size file. but when imported back it creates the assembly within an assembly.

Hi,

I guess this is "standard" behavior which cannot be changed.
