Sketched lines in Drawing

I have a drawing of a beam with endplates welded to them, the end plates are modeled to their final size of 20thk, I drew a line on the drawing 5mm away from the end plate using sketch and parametric references. My problem that I have is that I want to change the distance of the line from 5mm to 10mm, I dimensioned to this line to show the size of the beam before Machining. Any help or different method I could / Should be doing this? Attached is a PDF of What I want to do. The Blue phantom line is the line I want to move another 5mm avay from the plate.

IMO, the ability to sketch in the drawing lags way behind the modelling functionality. Recently, I've started doing 'drawing' entities in the model - create a sketch at the appropriate position, and just layer it off wherever it's not needed. This way you can reference all the geometry you like, show additional dimensions, even use relations; and the parametric references are robust and reliable.

Thanks Jonothan I'll give it a try, I have for the time being decided to rather use reps in the model and do two views of the part, just mkes it easier for the manufacturers. Regards
