Views not included in graphical bar

Hey,

My top, front, right, etc, views are not shown under my "Named Views" under the graphics bar.

Here is the image .

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You only get those if you set them up. If you are accustomed to them being there its probably because the template .prt file that you were using had the views already set up.

Do you know how to create them?

I don't know how to set them up, as I am new to the program.

The computers at my school have them already set up, so I thought I'd already have them as a default upon installing the program.

Do you mind helping me out with setting them up?

Thanks!

I'll get you started and you can ask for more details as needed. I'm using the version of Creo that came before yours, so the images will look different but I think the icons and names will be mostly the same.

This first image comes from the image you provided. Click Reorient to begin creating views.

You'll have two methods in which to orient the model. Dynamic orient will allow you to spin the model on the X, Y, Z axis by specific angle values that you select. Orient by reference will allow you to select flat surfaces and datum planes as references for what should be the back, front, side, etc. of the view. Notice that for this method you choose two references.

Technically there is a 3rd method. You can manually position the model on the screen however you like and save it as a view.

This should get you started. Don't forget to name the view and save it--see the bottom of the dialog box in the image.

Let me know if you get stuck.

Thanks for this.

However, I am not certain which direction is front, top and right. Is my interpretation right? If so, I can continue from here, and create my views using "Orient by reference" option.

Thanks again good sir!

My pleasrue.

I get with confused with that, too. There's probably a clever way to understand the directions, but I always do it by trial and error. Maybe another user will chime in to explain it to us. I think the direction of the thick yellow arrow you see when defining a datum plane has something to do with it.

It would help if you renamed your datum planes to Front, Top, & Right, or something similar. This will help you keep your bearings when making views.

You may want to save the file you're setting up views in for use as a template.

Edit 1

I just had to turn on the default template upon creating a new file.

The tutorial book I was following suggested to turn it off for now since a lesson will be provided covering the basics of planes and datums.

Thanks a bunch Kevin!

Renaming a datum plane: Select the datum plane in the model tree, right-click, pick "Rename".

Making the template: Save the .prt file with your views to an appropriate folder. Then go to Tools>Options, type template_solidpart in the Option field, then click the Browse button to locate the .prt file to be used as the template. Click Add/Change in the Options dialog box and Save (blue disk icon at top of dialog box) this option to your config file.

Are there multiple users on the computer you are running Creo? If so, you'll have to load your config file when you begin working to access the options and customization that you create for yourself. Otherwise, you can have it load automatically when you run Creo.
