WF4 drawing layer witchcraft!!

WTF!

I got a part/drawing set that is behaving really weird. The part has some
gtols and planes that keep disappearing on me. The planes are used a datums
on the drawing, they are in a hidden part layer called planes. the gtols and
two notes are in a notes layer also hidden in the part. On the drawing all
layers are shown. The drawing layer status control I got it set to "ignore
display status of layers in the model" the other option is not set.

now I save the drawing with everything in perfect condition shown and the
layet status set. When I open it, all if OK but when I delete any part of
the format in our case a table with a note "this is an unreleased drawing"
the planes and the gtols get hidden away.

Like I said at the begining, WTF! what the begisus am I missing here?
nothing I do seems to help, not even removing the layers.

regards,

Alfonso

Friday, I tried several things. I removed all the layers in the part and
drawing and recreated them. Then I hid the layers in the part and left the
drawing layers shown. When I open this part and I hit show and then hide,
the gtols and planes do show and hide. However I still get that
strange behavior; If the layers are shown and saved that way, if one opens
the drawing fresh and removes something in the format, the gtols and planes
disappear. If one deletes different parts of the format on different pages,
there are different things getting erased from the face of the drawing.

Wait!!! what if I select a face and I just pull it!!!! nah, sorry, I forgot
that only works on Creo and its completely unrelated to this issue. Darn,
for a moment I thought, if I could just upgrade, maybe this would all be
over. But i'm stuck with this and I gotta face reality, I will probably just
delete this part and drawing and have it done from scratch again.

Pro Users,

Good evening! I wonder if any of you can tell me if there is an
advantage to either of these monitors for the following system. Pro E
WF3 M100, Window XP Professional 64 Bit, Dell Precision T3500 with a
Nvidia Quadro FX 3800 graphics card.

I have the opportunity to replace one or both of the monitors. I
wouldn't ask but I have also had trouble with red or blue spots driving
a model 2000FPDell monitor and a model VS11425 View Sonic monitor. The
problem only appears on the View Sonic monitor. It is as if individual
or small groups of pixels for some unknown reason switch to display blue
or red only. The only way I've found to clear it is to shut down and
restart the PC. So I am trying to avoid this problem in the future if I
replace one or both of the monitors.

Thanks in advance.

Jim

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've had to do this and can't quite remember the best method.
Using WF 2 w/3.3

I have a drawing of an instance of a family table. I want to do a duplicate objects (in 3.3) to the drawing and instance. Seems like I need to duplicate all the instances, which works, but now I need to make the new instance of the new drawing stand alone, which I don't recall how to do.
Am I going about this correctly, or is there a more effective method?

Thanks,
Stefan

Hi Stefan, personally - I would do this live in Pro/E, via "the Pro/E Tap Dance" method...

1. set LET_PROE_RENAME_PDM_OBJECTS to YES

2. open the old drawing (linked session), and the original P/N instance in a seperate window

3. rename the instance to the new P/N & save the drawing

4. update the instance in your WS, but *not* the drawing!

5. open the generic part, edit the family table and add the new P/N instance

6. open the drawing, and I think that you should be good-to-go!

good luck!
