I've got some parts from a vendor and they have parameters attached that we need to delete. We can delete most of them, but there are two remaining. Neither one has a value set, just a name. The parameters are not locked or designated.
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks!

Here's a little more info from the message window when I try to delete, and then use "Show\Where Used" on the form:
[1]Parameter PT cannot be deleted. [1]Pick global parameter, or select NAME to type in a name. [1]Type global name: PT [1]Global PT not available to this model.
Try creating a new part and use the vendor part as the start part instead of your normal start part. Maybe that will break whatever is locking the parameter.
Or, create a new part from your start part and then copy all the features from the vendor part (highlight everything but the 3 def. datums) and paste special, advanced reference configuration into your new part. That should bring all the features over but (hopefully) not the parameters.
In both cases you'll have to replace the part in any assemblies, and I'm assuming the vendor part is a native Pro/E part.
The start part didn't work, but the cut and paste did. We just need to decide how to move ahead with this since we have 1000+ of these to go through. Our poor intern will lose his mind! There isn't an easy automated way to do this, is there?
Here are a couple of crud but sometimes very effective ways:
1. Trail Maker (v2) originally developed by Edwin Muirhead. I have a link below to a portion of my OLD web site. I don't maintain it any longer but it may work. It has helped me on a few occasions, thus I keep the old link live.
before launching pro/e add ALLOW_CREATE_PDM_PARAMYes to your config.pro This should allow you to edit and remove locked parameters. This is a hidden config option
Does anyone know how to create a family table part such that each instance is a different color for Wildfire 4.0 I tried various techniques but haven't found anything to work yet. The part will be part of a standard library file. What paramater could you add that would like to each color unique to that instance. Regards, Evan Coffield
One way that works is to create a surface copy and color the quilt. Select a surface, RMB select solid surfaces, then do the control-C, control-V to copy and paste the copied surface as many times for as many colors as you need. Then color the surfaces, add them to the family table and turn them on or off as appropriate...Thanks… Pa
