features created within assembly do not touch the part files

hello pro e users...

I need help concerning the creation of features that must propagate and show at the part level, but this features are created at the assembly level.

i.e.

holes created in assembly mode must be shown when the corresponding part is opened

thanks.

Hi Al,
Long time no hear 🙂

This is best done using Skeleton Models which are automatically at the top
of your assembly but do not show in a BoM. However you need the AAX module
as part of your licence to use that functionality.

If you don't have AAX you can still use the method known as master
modelling where you make a master part as the first part in your assembly
tree then you make non geometry features and surface features in this
master model and "copy" those to your part models in your assembly.
Actually this is the same methodology as for Skeleton parts just that ProE
knows that a Skeleton part is just that whereas a Master part is an
ordinary part so there are some functions you don't have plus it still
shows up in a BoM list.

Just how you do the copying can be dependent on your modules again. Not
sure if you can use Publish Geom and Copy Geom without AAX (we have it so
that function is always available). You can do copy and paste or use edge
or stuff like that. I love Publish and Copy Geoms as they allow total
stability of your inter-part references whereas other methods work but are
less robust.

Let me know if you want a demo model though I only have WF5 now since
getting a new computer (RIP WF2 and WF4)
