recording mapkeys in relations/parameters form

Hello Everyone!

I'm trying to automate a calculation with a mapkey. I'm able to get it to create the analysis features where I need them in the model tree. I was very careful when typing the relations in the relations form, and adding the parameter (volume, area, etc) from each analysis feature. When I ran the mapkey everything worked great until the first relation was going in. The parameter value was added to a new line (VOLUME:FID_1740), and I went back to set it to a variable called "VW", so the entire line looked like VW=VOLUME:FID_1740. However, when the mapkey runs, it looks like this:

VOLUME:FID_1740VW=
Relation has an error.

So you can see, the VW= did not get set to the beginning of the line as I typed.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Two ideas. First, if the feature ID is going to stay constant, try saving the relations to a text file and then using the mapkey to load the relations into the relations from the text file. This will prevent you from typing anything. (Just make sure you press the check box to verify them.) Alternately you could create the analysis feature and then add it to a UDF. This will work well if both the feature the parameter is in and the feature being referenced are both placed by the UDF.

Using the text file did the trick. Since I put the text file in a central location on the network, I had to make sure that I typed in the name of the path instead of clicking backwards through folders to get to the destination.

Thanks,
