Hi all;
We are using creo parametric as our CAD program and recently we started to use 3dexperience as our PLM system to manage our data and process. In our PLM system we have implemented a process which only allows to create drawing from 3d when the 3d file is in released state and can not be modified or saved therefore.
Our problem is that creo needs to save a new 3d file when a dimension is added to drawing and it is inconsistent with process which we defined.
I have experience with other cad tools like catia, and no need to save 3d file when creating drawing!
Is this working within scope of original design specification of Creo? Why creo needs to save 3d file again?
My question is that is there any config in creo to solve this issue?
Please share your experience in this regard.
I really appreciate your help.
Sincerely.

Set the config.pro option
create_drawing_dims_only YES
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for your reply.
Can you explain please what is this config for?
If we set this config to true, there is no need to save 3d file when add other features in drawing? I only mentioned dimension but what about other features when working in drawing !?
also what is the consequences of this config?
Sincerely.
You apparently missed out on this discussion:
The official details on this config option from PTC. Rather sparse content even with this article "supplementing" the help files.

There are others here on the community who are making drawings without saving the models and they use the option set to YES and their intention is to not modify the model during drawing creation.
