As far as I know, stl files do not have datum plane information but they do have a coordinate system. You might be able to use that to do what you want - i.e. ensure the geometry is in the correct geometry relative to the default coordinate system.
I there a way to adjust the "default" datum planes when you save it to an .stl file? I need to adjust the position of the part for back plotting.
