Question

.stp import and modification

I have some .stp files which were generated from NX. Now I want to import them into Creo parametric, and modify some feature, delete some, add some etc. Is there any way of doing that? I have tried to import the .stp file as a part file and then , it does not show any model tree for the imported one..only act as a single step. As a result, I cannot delete or edit any feature already in there. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Suchana,

Step file will not retain the model history on import, after importing step file there will be only a Imported feature in model tree. To modify the geometry you can use IDD (Import data doctor). You can add new features in that file as regular features of Creo.

With Creo 3 you can open/import directly NX files.

Search on TS for appropriate article.

And take a look also at this discussion Creo 3.0 Unite Technology Import Capability

You may want to look into the Flexible Modeling Extensions.

This will allow you to manipulate closed volume solids.

Using Creo 3.0 M030

I have had no luck properly importing NX files. Files come in all garbled. The CATIA translator works well, but not NX.
