After a computer crash, I tried to install Mathcad 14 (I have the license file and DVD) from the DVD on a spare computer running Windows 11 Home. The installation aborted with a message stating that not all files could be installed. What do I need to do to ensure a successful installation?
You will need to obtain a new license as the host ID will be different on your new computer.
Search in the Community for "MathCAD 14 on Windows 11" to see some other information.
Hallo Alfred.
You seem to have an installation problem (before you run into a licensing challenge, since Mathcad 14 is no longer supported).
You have to observe the system requirements/prerequisites for installation of Mathcad 14:
• Microsoft .NET Framework® 2.0 or later
• MSXML 4.0 SP2 or later
• Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.6 or later.
There's a good chance that installable versions of these are present on your Mathacd DVD. The installables could be (respectively) found as: dotnetfx.exe, msxml.msi and MDAC_TYP.EXE
Install those and then retry installation of Mathcad 14.
Regarding the licensing, you may need to contact PTC support and hope (pray?) they can help you with a new license file.
Success!
Luc
I tried it, nothing worked—no luck. I guess I'll have to say goodbye to PTC :-(.
