I had problems with the setup crashing because kernelbase.dll as I found out in the Manage My computer
My path/username contains the Swedish letter 'ö' :
...but when I moved the extracted install-zip for MathcadPrime 9 directly to c:\ and tried to install it worked fine!
Setup now runs smoothly. So be aware of any local charachters in the installation-path!
