Mathcad Download

I have tried several times to have the link emailed to me to download the free version of Mathcad but I am not receiving the email. I have checked the spam folders and there is no email.

Be sure to tick the Converter option when installing Prime 11. It allows you to convert Mathcad (version 15 and before) files to Prime format.

Thanks Luc for the quick response. The files I'm looking to open are from version 14 so I would need at least 14 or greater to open them.

Hi RP,

There seems to be a bit of misunderstanding.

Mathcad and PTC Mathcad Prime are two separate software suites. PTC Mathcad Prime supersedes Mathcad.

Mathcad got to version 15.  So you have version 14 files.

PTC Mathcad Prime is only at version 11.

To read an old Mathcad 14 file PTC Mathcad Prime 11 uses a file converter utility program.  The utility conversion program is not installed by default while installing PTC Mathcad Prime 11.  An option to install the file converter utility needs to be selected while installing PTC Mathcad Prime 11.

Thank you Terry for the quick response and information. Some history, I had Mathcad Prime installed and the convertor but when I tried to open on of my Mathcad 14 files this is what I'm getting. Any suggestions?

Did you apply for, and get, the trial license? (Did you see the youtube on 'Opening Mathcad express free trail for the first time', and exectute the steps shown there?)

Hi Luc,

The trial version was loaded but since uninstalled when unable to open files. Yes the converter is turn on but I might be out of the trial version.

Then you are left with two free options:

• Attach your Mathcad 14 file(s) and ask for (i)t(hem) to be converted to Prime 11 by a community member. You will then be able to open them with Prime 11 Express. In how far they will 'run' depends on the type of calculations used. Programs won't run, certain functions ('premium functions') will not compute, symbolics don't work, but ordinary math and even simple graphs should work. Note that for many a 'premium function' there is a work around, see here. All this should work in Prime 11 Express for which you do not need a license, just install and don't try to get a license.

• Try if this utility will show the Mathcad sheet as last saved.
