Mathcad Prime since Prime 5 has had two ways to make XY plots: Native plots or "quickplots" which cannot have gridlines, and Chart Components, which can have gridlines, a second Y-axis, and other useful things.
When using the Mathcad worksheet converter to convert Mathcad 15 worksheets to Mathcad Prime worksheets, the converter will try to convert Mathcad 15 XY plots to Prime's XY plots and not to Prime's Chart Components. Converting them to Chart Components is a manual process.
A major goal of PTC Mathcad Prime 12 is to improve the features available in native plots, which would improve the conversion process as well.
There are ways to add a grid to native plots. See here: https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad/In-MCD-Prime-4-0-is-there-any-way-to-add-gridlines-to-plots/m-p/86492/highlight/true#M34243 and here: https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad/Grid-on-a-2D-Plot/m-p/672692 .
But it requires extra plot parameters.
The chart component has its drawbacks too. One and foremost: It doesn't deal with units.
Hopefully the native plots will improve beyond the point that the badly integrated chart component can be discarded.
We'll see in about half a year...

I know the Chart Component won't be taken out of the product for Prime 12, but native plots will be able to do a lot (but not all) of the things the Chart Component can do. Or so I've heard.
Hopefully, the Chart Component will be taken off the Math tab of the ribbon........
I'm planning to have another roadmap webinar in the autumn of this year, and hopefully, Mathcad Prime 12's development build will be in far enough shape that we'll be able to see sooner than half a year from now what is and won't be in it!
