No problem here, Re(x) IS real, not imaginary. Keep in mind that i/i is NOT imaginary.
Where do those kind of expressions stem from? What concrete problem or what kind of study would involve dealing with it?
BTW, as you probably know (depending on what the source of this problem is), your expression X reduces to 4+sqrt(2).
