Crazy ugly formatting

This is probably simple. Every since upgrading to Mathcad Prime, things like large parentheses and integrals do not show on the screen as smooth curves (like is true in Mathcad 15) but instead appear are discontinuous line segments with curves on the end -- sort of like one tried tried to mimic them on a typewriter. Is this "normal" behavior?

Unfortunately, yes.

There are a few threads about this phenomena in this forum but no solutions. The effect seems to be dependend on screen resolution and/or zoom factor. I myself experience it only very slightly on a machine with low screen resolution but as a big annoyance on another with a better display.
