Embedded Excel file issue in Mathcad 10

Hi guys,

I'm having issues with embedded Excel files.

After opening a Mathcad Prime 10 file with an embedded Excel file (from which I'm reading in data for calculation) MC suggests that I might be editing the Excel file and thus the calculation can't continue; see screen shot.

Has anybody experienced the same issue and (hopefully!) a solution to the problem?

Some more information:

  • Win 11, 64 Bit machine.
  • MathCad Prime 10
  • Checked Task Manager for background Excel files running - none.
  • I've deleted the Excel file and "re-embedded" a new one - same issue.
  • New Mathcad file with new embedded Excel file - same result.

Hi,

I have tried with a very large Excel file and all is well on my system.

Can you uplaod the Prime sheet with the problem?

Hi,

Try turning off multithreading calculations

Hello Terry,

thanks for your advice, but switching off multithreading doesn't work.

I've attached the "offensive" Mathcad sheet. It worked before, but since Monday it started misbehaving. Perhaps it is due to our companies switch to Win 11..

Thanks

I can just confirm that the Excel component in the sheet you posted works pretty well here with Prime 10, Windows 10 and Excel 2016.
When assigning the output variable "parameter" there is a spelling error as the sheet name is "Parameters" and not just "Parameter".

The problem you experience may be due to Windows 11 as you suspect, but its also likely that when your company switched to Win 11 it also changed the Office/Excel version or its update and that there is some incompatibility with Prime - don't know.
Maybe PTC support can be of help?

Thanks for your support Terry. It must be some settings in our company's IT system

Hi,

One thing we have not tried is using a file that is working on a system.

So returnung file with correction identified by Werner

Cheers

Terry

Terry,

no change here. As soon as I opened your file an error was thrown. It's definitely our system because using a non-embedded Excel file works just fine.
