Instead of simply stating the equation with its result how can I should break it down to show the specific values assigned to the variables and how they contribute to the final result. for example if I have p:=10 q:=20 I want to show r:= p+q=10+20=30 is this something i can do?

Use symbolic evaluation with keyword 'explicit'
Success!

Here is another example with some explanations.
If I remember PTC's plans for future versions correctly, it shouldn't take another 10 years (as Raiko fears) until you can hide keywords in Prime, just like you always could in the real Mathcad (you could also replace the arrow with an equal sign there).
Of course, it could be made neater looking in old Mathcad
"like you always could in the real Mathcad"
Can't hide symbolic keyword in Mathcad 11...☹️
Maybe Mathcad 11 isn't real Mathcad. Just hope it will not become imaginary any time soon.

OK, its a long time agon since i last used MC11 and have no working copy left. So hiding keywords obviously was introduced later than I thought ...

There are those who thought (Mathsoft) Mathcad 6 was the ultimate and didn't see the need for anything else. Others yet swore/swear by Mathcad 7, 8, 11, or 15. ISTR, there were even a few who thought Mathcad 12 was good. My brain can't cope with that concept, and I develop maximal cognitive dissonance even when trying to.
However, there are yet others of us who believed (and probably still believe to a large degree) that Real Mathcad doesn't yet exist. There is a list of feature requests stretching back into the Hadean Eon. Some of these feature request lists were rather extensive (eg, Valery's MM(?)) and even my own had quite a few.
