Something along these lines?

Success!

Hi Luc,

Thanks very much.

For some reason, the worksheet is not working.

and x=m+(1-m)x1 (you put it as x)

and the graph should be against x1.

and G(x1) is the correct one not G(x).

Could you please double check. I used the "substitute" symbolic operator and nothing happens. No error messages.

Thanks,

Anousheh

Press F9 after opening the sheet. It doesn't calculate automatically.

In addition, for speeding up, you may want to set TOL:=0.001 at the top of the sheet.

And you can have the range of x as x:=0.001,0.002...1

The x or x1 doesn't matter. They're just parameters.

Success!

The x or x1 doesn't matter. They're just parameters.

I guess you missed the fact that x depends on x1 and m

No, I didn't,

that's why I substituted x with m+(1-m)*x.

The end result is the same, since x and x1 are not used simultaneously in any of the functions.

Yes, sorry, you a absolutely right.

I had't looked close enough to the pic

The picture is so small...You're excused.

Hi Vladimir,

Thank you so much. Would you please upload the file? I get G(x1) graph and F(x1,0.5) not showing up with no error message.

And one question: how the value of m (0.5) is incorporated into G(x1)?

Thanks again,

Anousheh

Here it is.

Hi Vladimir,

Thanks again.

Would you please see the previous file again? Need G(x1) against x1 with different m= 0.5, 0.7 & 0.9.

Remember, x1=(x-m)/(1-m)

Thank you,

Anousheh

Here are my 2 cents:

MC15 worksheet attached.

BTW, I guess Lucs worksheet will work OK, if you turn on auto-calculation. Luc has it usually turned off and so you have to manually recalculate (Ctrl-F9) after every change.

Here is another way to deal with those nested functions:

Hi Werner,

Thanks a lot.
