Do you know?

Pi in Mathcad 11 (Maple):

and in Mathcad 15 (MuPad)

and Pi in Mathcad House - http://communities.ptc.com/message/176404#176404

The floating numbers must be an integer between 1 and 250

Thanks, I know it.

But I point on one error in Mathcad 12-15 with the MuPAD not Maple symbolic machine.

In honor of Pi Day, here is a worksheet that calculates as many digits of pi as one might want.

Be sure to turn on the debugger and debugger window so you can see the result. You can also see how the calculation slows down as more terms are added.

The program uses the Taylor series expansion of atan(x) for the following solution (by Machin) of pi:

Since pi is known to a trillion digits or more now, the worksheet has no real purpose other than amusement.

The following graph shows the time required to complete the processing vs. the number of digits.

As can be seen, the time grows exponentially with the number of digits. Using Mathcad for more than 3,000 digits is impractical.

Set your calendars for Tau day on June 28th.

Better to think about TAU BETA PI day.
