I just installed Matchcad Prime 3.1 on my computer. However, to convert my older mcd files the converter states it needs MatchCad 15 installed. I down loaded the Mathcad 15 file but it crashes when you run the setup.exe. It states one of the dll files was not made to run on widows. I am using Windows 8.
Are you sure you have the latest installer? You can get it here: http://www.ptc.com/product/mathcad/free-trial/thank-you
Well in short yes, that is where I downloaded the program and it does notwork. Somewhat of a disappointing experience as the installer appears broken. The Prime 3.1 program disk was supposed to include Mathcad 15, which it did not... Not sure what is up with that but the license worked for the downloaded copy.
Help support supplied this alternative installation instruction:
Install Mathcad 15.0 by running Mathcad15WixInstaller.msi from Mathcad folder of the installer image.
This works but it brings forth another concern, the link downloads MSXML 4.0, which does not list Windows 8 as a supported OS. Not sure if this was a mistake and I have asked the question of technical support. Looks like MSXML 6.0 is what MS is supporting today but would it work with Mathcad 15?
Hi,
Please provide screenshot of this error (when "setup.exe" application is crashes).
Better question, when does Mathcad 15 M040 come out?
I downloaded Mathcad 15 M030 yesterday and ran it on a new build ... Windows 7 PRO. Absolutely no issues with the install.
Did you extract the zip file prior to running the set up? Please note that you may have to install windows software (net 3.5 SP3?) before the install (I did). There is a download link when you run the MathCAD setup.
