Mathcad 13 and Windows 7

I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop. I reinstalled both Mathcad 11 and Mathcad 13. No problems with Mathcad 11, but 13 will not run. When I try to open it, nothing happens. If I double click on a mathcad file, i get the message

"There was a problem sending the command to the program"

any ideas?

thanks bill

Well, after several days of searching for solutions to no avail, I called PTC about this issue. I was basically told that Mathcad 13 is not supported for windows 7 and not to expect any help. Their recommendation was to buy a future version of Mathcad that will be supported on Windows 7. Mmmm, send them more money so they can leave me hanging out to dry again? I don't think so.

I think that some earlier versions have problems
with Vista & possibly W7 because of the new way
processes are kept separate.

Certainly there is at least one version where the
mathcad element can't talk to the licence management
element to get at the validation code. This is a
security feature of the newer versions of windows.

Search for discussions on problems with Vista. I
know Steen had some issues that he may be able to
give you a heads up on.

I am using Mathcad 13 with W7 Home Premium.
No problems to report.
Didn't even need to use compatability!!

Ok, that means it is possible, thanks for the info. I am using W7 Professional. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of times to no avail.

Not that I'm an expert on the subject, but:
Do you have the necessary rights? e.g. Administrator ...

Success!
