Mathcad 15 Problem Running In Windows 8

I now have windows 8 and Mathcad 15 will not load into the system. The error message says I am running windows XP and need to install service pack 2. This does not seem correct. What is the fix for this if any? (Mathcad Prime 1.0 loaded and runs o.k.) Jerry E. Bayles

This document applies to Windows 7 but maybe it helps, too:

  • Solution 1 : Directly the run the MSI file
    • For Mathcad 15.0, Prime 1.0, Prime 2.0 F000
    1. Open Mathcad CD or Download in Windows Explorer
    2. Start the installation by running the *.msi under Mathcad folder
    • For Mathcad Prime 2.0 M010
    1. Open Mathcad Prime CD or Download in Windows Explorer
    2. Start the installation by running the PrimeWixInstaller_32bit.msi for 32bit Windows and use PrimeWixInstaller_64bit.msi for 64bit Windows under ptcsh0 folder
  • Solution 2 : Disable the compatibility setting
    1. Open Mathcad CD or Download in Windows Explorer
    2. Right-click on Setup.exe > Select Properties
    3. Click Compatibility tab > Uncheck Run this program in compatibility mode for:
    4. Click OK
