So I have just installed MathCAD Prime 11 so that I can finally have custom units. So now I can get 'MPa' and mm as my preferred units, but how do I get MathCAD Prime 11 to evaluate a moment as 'kNm' instead of 'J' (joules)?
Change the preferred unit for Energy from J to kNm....
Success!

I don't see how you do that?
this is what I am faced with, there is no option to change the unit associated with energy as far as I can tell. When you click on change there is no option to change it to kNm?
The unit kNm isn't known by Mathcad, you'd have to define it first as (e.g.) :
be sure to have kNm, N and km labelled as Units.
What happens if you change the unit for energy to BTU...do then your moments change to BTU?
(If not it's no use trying to get kNm in there).
Success!

Hi Luc,
Below is what I want:-
and sort of what I expected the custom units to be able to deliver.
And if that is what was possible in Mathcad 15, then again (and again and again) we must conclude that PTC does NOT deliver Prime as a viable successor of Mathcad.
Success!

Mathcad Prime 11.0.0.0.0.0.0 "custom unit system" is half baked. I am so frustrated that we waited for such a minor improvement. You can only use the limited list of derived units and absolutely no support for "coherent units" of any combination!
For example, I use mm^2, mm^4 and mm^6 quite often, yet the default is still m^#. Also, I deal with solids all the time yet volumes are in L or gal—I usually do not fill up a jug with steel! I definitely do not need "Barns" for areas!!!
Yeah I am discovering the custom units isn't as complete as expected. Prime continues to be a very poor upgrade to mathcad15. I was actually looking forward to this upgrade as they were finally brining some useful upgrades (or so I thought).
Don't get me started on how complicated Prime is to upgrade, or how convoluted the PTC website is.. Or why I now have to do more keystrokes to write my sheets.. Or as I discovered the people that work on prime had never used mathCAD15... Or why when you convert an old sheet it doesn't recognize headings or normal text and so on conversion of the sheet there is hrs of work soring formatting out.. I could go on...
