I have down loaded and installed Prime 10.0.1.0. However, It is not clear what was "improved." I would like to check out the improvements for myself.
Solved! Go to Solution.
FYI, for the future, the plan is for all maintenance releases to be about bug fixes and security updates as opposed to feature improvements. Feature improvements are a major release thing.
Edit: And you're correct that documentation wasn't updated for this release, but I believe that's something that we will address for next year's inevitable 11.0.1.0. This was our first Prime maintenance release so the Mathcad release management folks already have some lessons learned.
From what I had read (I can't download the software as I am told that no software download is available for me) I think this maintenance release is more about bug fixes than feature improvements.
It is by no means a clear, orderly compilation/listing, but you can find some information here and it looks as if the changes are only documented in this way:
https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/update_advisor/update_advisor.jsp
The online help does not appear to have been updated - it still covers just 10.0.0.0

I understand that there are noi new features. i wanted to see which bugs were fixed.
Dave, do you know if the Mathcad Prime 10 Trial software has been updated to the new maintenance release?
I tried logging on the support page to check for downloads, but as a mere academic user I got short shrift and an Access Denied - Insufficient Privileges message.
Cheers,
Stuart
The expected behaviour is that the trial was updated to reflect 10.0.1.0. I'm not gonna confirm if this happened personally.
Here's some secret info that probably isn't a good idea (as a PTC employee) to make too public, but to answer the question...

It's a good job I didn't read your message, then, Dave.
The question is whether I stick with 10.0.. or take a gamble with the maintenance release? Decisions, decisions.

I installed 10.01.0 on a laptop (Windows 10) and a desktop (Windows 11) with no signs of problems.

Thanks.
Problems rarely do show, though, until you absolutely, definitely do not want them to show. 😉

Never a truer word was writ. And the things you should have thought to fear will be there sooner ...
Your link takes me to a Mathcad 15 page. I know there are not any new features. i wanted to see what bugs where fixed.

No. its not just a MC15 page 😉
PTC is not making it that easy for you. You have to fill in all five blanks, Product, Release, Datecode, Release, Datecode and then if you are lucky and click "Search" you get a list where you are supposed to click each article individually to get some more information (or not):
My apologies. I now see that they differentiate between Mathcad and Mathcad Prime. However, even when I put in the proper settings. The chart does not appear.

Thats strange, I have no explanation for this. As you could download the new release I guess you are under maintenance and because you could open the page I linked to you were logged in. So if you have chosen 10.0.0.0 for the current and 10.0.1.0 for the Target, I see no reason why you should not get the list of the four entries when you press "Search".
My settings were exactly like yours. Its ok. I read you posting. Thank you.
Here are the links to the four articles, hope you are able to access them:

You're much too kind. Thanks for all your efforts to get me this information. It is truly appreciated. When Mathcad was just Mathcad I was one of the Beta testers, so I got use to testing new or repaired features.
I really miss the ability to make e-books. I used it to make tutorials. You can sort of do that now but it still missing a couple of key features.
I, too, miss Mathcad, but that's crying over spilt milk.
Lets be optimistic - rumor has it that Prime 51.0.2.0 may come very close to Mathcad in terms of functionality and usability 😉
Now that I am only 76 years old, that seems just around the corner.
I got clarification on the Update Advisor today from the product manager. (So I also updated the Prime 10.0.1.0 blog on mathcad.com with this info)
The Update Advisor only covers bug fixes that have SPRs; if it was not reported to tech support, then it doesn't have an SPR.
Things can get fixed if they don't have SPRs, though, if they reach R&D's attention in other ways. I was told that these can include posts on PTC Community that don't have tech support cases associated with them, as well as problems that R&D discovered internally and fixed. These will not be documented in Update Advisor.
(As a matter of incentive, it's better for Community members to formally create Tech Support cases so other Mathcad users can benefit from the documentation into the system instead of just posting on Community.)
That means there is no public, exhaustive list of the bug fixes in the maintenance release. And it doesn't seem like we have plans to publish one.
Thanks for the information.
If it was up to me, I'd publicly document the changelog.

The German version has a translation error right from the start,
this was never corrected. I tried to open the SPR in the Prime 3.1 version, but it was not accepted.
As far as I can see only the first two are wrong as they should read mm.tt.jjjj and mm.tt.jj. And I am not sure if this way of writing a date (month first and dot as separator) is really used anywhere in the world. Sure not in the German speaking parts of it AFAIAA.
Its also not understandable why we can't have the full range of (meaningful) possible ways to write the date independent from the language setting. The language setting then could choose a default format corresponding to the language as long as no specific format is defined in the used template file.
Life would be so much easier if Prime would provide an option menu and save settings in a simple configuration file rather than having to create templates and an awkward to handle call arguments to change language 😞
If we would like to open a Prime file with a double click in a different than the default language (and I would prefer to run my German version in English) it would be necessary to fiddle around in the registry which really is not acceptable.
