Representing Volume

Hi,

Let's say I have a 3d box with dimensions 2x.y.3z and x is dependant to k variable. I would ike to see the volume change of the mentioned box with regarding to k and visually represent it in 3D.Is this possible in Mathcad?

Thank you

yes

No need for such a long, wordy answer Fred. Just "Y" would have sufficed.

I aspire to Microsoft's benchmark:

Exactly correct, totally useless!

Sorry for interrupting but I can't make 3D plot from 3 variables multiplication, do I need to define a matrix to represent the volume, how? thanks

It's not clear to me what you are trying to plot. Your function a is a function of three variables, and therefore represents a 4 dimensional surface. You can't plot that.

I am trying to plot a rectangular prism (x,y,z) in cartesian coordinates. x and y will be dependent to another function.3D plot will show the volume change visually. Surface plot takes 2 arguments (naturally) but I need to provide 3 to construct a rect. prism.

From the electronic book "Creating Amazing Images with Mathcad" by Byrge Birkeland

This seems useful but can't pass any variable to any element of X,Y or Z.They seem to be needing staying scalar.

I don't understand what you mean. If you change sx, sy, or sz you change the size. If you change the elements of the vector x you change the position. You need to be more specific with your question.

Is this the kind of thing you're after? I've used a library based on Maple's plottools functionality.

I had forgotten about your plottools worksheet. Just like I promised I would:

I'd forgotten about that, but now you've reminded me, I've remembered that I was so inspired by your act of memory impairment that I too took to forgetting everything I've ever done as well. It was as big as surprise to me as anyone when a search on 'cube' brought up a message with my name on it and the plottools worksheet.

I noticed another name cropping up. Is Jean coming up for parole or was it consecutive life sentences with no hope of remission? You'd think I'd remember a thing like that, wouldn't you ... or would you? ...

Sorry, I've had a busy day supporting equipment trials where nothing made sense. I think my reality cheque was made out on an inflatable rubber castle and it was party time when I tried to cash it.

Stuart ... I think.

I don't actually know, but I suspect the door was securely locked and the key was then melted down.

No problem. I can think of several ways of dealing with locked doors ... or, failing that there's always the walls - reminds me of some establishment or other that fitted a really high-tech, secure entrance to their facility, so the evaluators simply cut through the corrugated steel wall.

Stuart

Superb work there Stuart.

Of course.

... Muhahaha! My ego grows beyond all known bounds! Today, the Multiverse. Tomorrow, the ... damn, so much for territorial ambition.
