простить, Валерий.
... OK. I've been brooding over this for a long time and I've finally decided to стиснуты зубы (bite the bullet) and try to learn Russian. I've always been put off learning the language (as opposed to doing ad hoc translations) because I've never been able to 'hear' Russian words - and it just didn't seem right being able to 'read' Russian without being able to speak it or listen to it.
However, I've found a couple of websites (one minute Russian and Russian survival phrases) that are helping me to pick out (a few) individual words; consequently, I am filled with vastly overconfident optimism that I may be able to converse at the level of a Russian infant in a couple of years time. Of course, the fact that I have a memory that makes a goldfish feel smug may stretch that out a bit. 🙂
Somebody suggested that it may be helpful to listen to some Russian language podcasts as a means of learning to 'hear' the words. I've got "Utro na BBC" , in the car to listen to when travelling to work, but ... I was wondering if you could recommend any Russian scientific or mathematics podcasts, пожалуйста?
спасибо
Stuart
