Units derived from an equation

How do you stop MathCAD from going too far in the reduction of units in the answer of a calculated value? See attached .xmcd file.

Yes. Click on the result, and you will see a placeholder to the right. Type N/mm in the placeholder. If you type in units that are incorrect then Mathcad will add whatever additional units are needed to make it correct.

How far is "too far"? Mathcad does not know what you want, and will always reduce the units. If you want specific units then you need to insert them in the units placeholder of the result.

Edit: actually, in some cases you can do something. Go to "format", "result", and uncheck "Simplify units when possible". It doesn't make any difference in this case, but it does sometimes.

In the example given where K =.... kg/s2,

I would edit it to read K =....N/mm?

You can change the units to kgf/m.
