こんにちは新一

Inspecting your attached xmcd file shows that it is Mathcad 14 file and not a Prime 3.1 file (which would have a different extension anyway, mcdx I think).

If you had Prime 3 then I think you should also have Mathcad 15 (which is necessary to perform .mcd / .xmcd to .mcdx conversion, unless that's changed between Prime 3 and Prime 3.1). Mathcad 15 should read your .xmcd file without any problem, and you could also convert it to .mcdx format in Prime 3..

Mathcad versions equal to or less than 11.2 use the .mcd extension. I don't know what version you have. I've got M14, which means that I can only save it in M11 format. See attached.

Dear Stuart

Thank you for your reply.

I tried your transformed mcd file, but it can't be used my Prime 3.1.

Prime 3.1 is a free version, so some functions are not available, I think.

If possible, could you transform attached file to PDF file.

I only want to confirm the file inside.

Best regards,

Shinichi

Dear Stuart
I have the same problem as Inoue.
Can you help me?

Hi Marc,

Unfortunately, I can't help on this occasion as I no longer have a version of Mathcad that can read or write Mathcad 11 .. Mathcad 15, nor do the conversion to Mathcad Prime.   I only have Mathcad Express.

However, I'm pretty sure one of the other regulars with the requisite version, will pop along soon and be able to help.

What version of Mathcad do you have?

Cheers,

Stuart

Hi Stuart

Thank you for your reply.

I only have the Mathcad Exprerss.

I appreciate your help.

Best regards,

Marc

On the ribbon at the top of your Prime window, you need to select the input/output tab, and then click the XMCD, MCD converter.

This will open a pop-up window, open the original file (+add worksheets); then press the convert button.

Capture.PNG

The process will create a .MCDX file in the same location as the original & also a conversion log listing the items that failed or may have changed.

You will need to check the MDCX file carefully against an original calculation to verify that it is working satisfactorily.

You WILL need Mathcad 15 installed as it uses this to read the original file.

I am still on Prime version 2 but the process will be the same.

Regards

Andy

Dear Andy

Thank you for your reply.

Your indication is true, but my version Prime 3.1 is not able to use this function.

It may be a paticular problem...

Best regards,

Shinichi

Since you said to Stuart it is free version, I assume that you don't have Mathcad 15.

Attached are outputs from conversion.

Dear Andy

Thank you for your reply.

I could open your converted file and confirm !!!

I appreciate your great help

Best regards,

Shinichi

If you have (a full version) installed of Prime, then you can also install Mathcad 15 (which is much more powerfull by the way), using the same license.

Mathcad 15 is required to translate Mathcad (.mcd and .xmcd) files to Prime (.mcdx) files. Prime actually uses the Mathcad 15 application during the translation.

Note that you can translate from Mathcad to Prime, but not (back) from Prime to Mathcad.

Note also that with many translations there remains some handwork to do, depending on the complexity of you Mathcad file. With your file that may not be needed.

Success!

Hello, I use Mathcad Prime 5.0, and I whant to convert xmcd to mcd, the input/output tab is not available and i don`t know why but the Mathcad15 can`t be install. Is there another possibility to convert the file without installing Mathcad 15?

You sure mean to convert to mcdx, right?

the input/output tab is not available

Probably because MC15 is not installed

and i don`t know why but the Mathcad15 can`t be install.

Whats the problem in installing Mathcad 15?

No. You need a full working installed MC15 in parallel with Prime for the conversion from older versions of Mathcad to the new (but clearly inferior) Prime.

Only other way to get a converted file is to create a new message, upload the file and wait for a kind soul doing the conversion for you 😉

The distribution kit of Mathcad 15 M050 service release is available according to the following link: https://www.ptc.com/-/media/Files/Docs/Mathcad/Mathcad15-EN.zip

You can attach your worksheets here for converting.

The problem is that most people here already use Prime 3.0, 3.1 or Prime 4.0 and so could also only convert the file to those formats. Your Prime 2.0 would not be able to read those files and ridiculously Prime is not able to save the file in older Prime formats.

So all I can do is to attach a pdf-print of your file in case you haven't seen it already.

Maybe someone here still uses Prime 2 and sees your request.

You may also consider opening a new thread as you possibly reach a wider audience that way. many users here don't look at a thread which is marked as answered even though it bubbles up because of a new post therein. A new question usually gets more attention and it would be important that you clearly state that you need the file in Prime 2.0 format.

Of course you could follow Lucs advice and download and install Mathcad 15. If you have a license for Prime the license file should be valid for Mathcad, too. If you don't have a license, Mathcad 15 will run as full version for 30 days after installation.

PTC is hiding Mathcad 15 quite well - you can find the english version at

https://www.ptc.com/en/products/mathcad/free-trial/thank-you

and here
