I started with a curiosity of modeling a Football myself. The key was to get the angles of the Pentagon and Hexagon correct so that when its assembled, it fits together properly.
Then I made this animation with each segment controlled thru mechanism and made Animations of certain sequences.. This is one of the better ones in that
