Did You Know? PTC Creo 3.0 Enhancements: File/Open Function and Import Profiles with Unite Technology

PTC Creo 3.0 introduced Unite technology, which featured breakthrough capabilities to improve productivity in multi-CAD environments. Now with the release of PTC Creo 3.0 M020, users can take advantage of even more robust multi-CAD data handling capabilities. PTC Creo 3.0 M020 introduces a new File/Open function, which allows you to easily open and manage files from CATIA, Siemens NX and SolidWorks without creating additionally business objects. Product Manager Marc Schuetz explains more about these capabilities below:

With Unite technology, it is no longer necessary to install any additional third party software or license to work with non-PTC Creo data. CATIA, SolidWorks, and Siemens NX files can simply be opened and referenced in PTC Creo. You can also use format specific profiles and templates to help load foreign data as easily as native PTC Creo data.

PTC Creo data and without creating additional business objects.

Under the options for Data Exchange, the default workflow (Open or Import) as well as existing format specific profiles can be controlled. Additionally, new profiles can be created and modified with the help of the Import Profile Editor.

Once defined, these profiles automatically control which information get into session without any additional dialogue or user interaction.
