How to lock a creo license to a cad worker machine

I am trying to find a way to lock a license of creo to a cad worker machine.  The worker machine is a stand alone workstation.  Right now if all the seats of creo are used up the cad worker wont work.

Thanks for the help.

Look in the FlexNet manual under the options that can be put in the opt file.

You can lock licenses in there.

You should have a separate or bundled "Foundation Viz" license, check the License file,

A. If you do not have Viz license, contact PTC License Management with MAC id of Publsihing machine and Sales Order and Customer Number.

B. If you have Viz License On Publisher machine do the following:

1. Go to the Creo Install location

2. Parametric/bin folder

3. look for reconfigure.exe

4. once launched click Next for "Reconfigure existing software"

5. click Next again

6. click customize

7. go to "Command Configuration Tab"

8. click Edit

9. In the License to Run Box you should Only have "Foundation Viz" license for publishing.

10. do the needful click OK and Install to Finish.

This way you are not consuming other licenses which Creo users are using.

Thanks,
Rahul

FYI the part numbers for the vis package are:

MNT-5055f-t2     Support for: Windchill Visualization Adapter Starter Package

PKG-5055-f        Windchill Visualication Adapter Starter Package

They both should be Zero Dollars.

Thanks David.  I like the free part.  I will check into it.

Another option is to install the View generation license standalone on your publishing machine, so it is the only machine to see the license.

Where can I find that?  We are using creo2.0 by the way

Joe,

On the Creo 2 Help CD is a FlexLicensing.pdf file. Open it and read chapter 13 on Managing the Options File.

There is a section on how to set up the opt file for reserving a license.

Ben

I was looking for information on where the View generation license standalone is located and information on it.

Go to your PTC.com account and look at the licenses available for American Augers.

I looked at my maintenance billing file and it is not broken out on there.

My license file has all of my license being SE's.

You can break out 1 license for the publisher from your pool by doing a license reconfiguration and moving the license to the IP of the publisher.

The point is, PTC provides a free license for the worker machine. But you have to request it. There is no need to break out a real license your paying maintenance on to use on your worker. Talk to your sales rep and give them these package numbers and request you get that license.

PKG-5055-f        Windchill Visualication Adapter Starter Package

I contacted our VAR and they are working on getting me the packages David mentioned.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Maybe you want to consider marking David's post as Correct Answer (at least, as soon as you actually get the free worker license)?
