We have run into a problem setting up our floating licenses. The server is up and running and the licenses are found with no problems during the installation. However, when starting CREO Parametric, the program is unable to connect to the license server... Initially, the port was blocked, but before that issue was lifted, the server wasn't even found during the installation.
How should we go about fixing this?
As suspected only the port 7788 has been unblocked.
How can we configure the ptc_d to run on a certain port? Didn't find anything on the topic on the run.
You can do that in two ways:
1. Log in to license server web interface, go to Administration (upper right corner) and then go to Vendor Daemon Configuration, select ptc_d and then configure vendor port.
2. Go to installation location of the license server (C:\Program Files\PTC\FLEXnet Admin License Server), go into Licensing directory, edit license.dat (even with Notepad, it's a simple text file) and find
DAEMON ptc_d
line. At the end of the line add port number you want to use (similar to 7788 in the SERVER line above) and save the file.
Restart license server service and ptc_d should be using only specified port.
@TSiik, You can refer the below article and follow the steps to add all the required exception both on server and client system for free communication.

@TSiik, As suggested by @LukaszMazur, you can add the Vendor Daemon port by editinig the license file and then restart the service. Further add Vendor Daemon port in the firewall exception as well. Hope this helps you resolve the issue.

Hi,
to verify that the problem is related to firewall (incoming rules), you can turn it off temporarily.
IN addition to all inputs from community members, try adding server details (IP and name) in client host file available under C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
