Removing locked parameters

Removing locked parameters

I am looking at updating our old start parts that have Pro/Intralink parameters in them which are useless now that we are in Windchill. I read the steps in Article - CS105842 - How to modify or remove Windchill Parameters in Creo Parametric but the parameters are still locked when I open the files in Creo.

Any suggestions on how to get clean start parts.

I have thought of creating new ones, but we have a lot of parameters that would need added.

I saw an article that said ModelCheck can delete unwanted parameters, but it did not address the issue of locked parameters. Will ModelCheck remove locked parameters?

Creo 10.0.4.0 and Windchill  13.0.2.0

@BenLoosli I remember doing this many years back after moving to Windchill. I was able to delete the Intralink parameters only after changing the Windchill server offline in Creo while deleting those params. Not sure if that works now, but you can try.

My process was to add a couple of hidden confg.pro settings from that CS article as a start. I then did a save-as to the start part and closed Creo. Opened a new Creo session and did not log in to Windchill. Open the start part from my disk location. When going into the parameters, the Pro/Intralink ones still show as being locked and will not allow me to delete them.

Following the steps in the article work for me. If they aren't for you, I would suggest opening up a ticket with PTC.

I had a similar problem, parameters that were locked and I could not delete, caused by a colleague.

In the end, I ended up creating a new file without any parameters, then  copying and pasting the ones I wanted from the "old" model to the "new" one. Luckily, it's you can copy/paste multiple parameters at a time.

If you only have to handle a few parts/assemblies this might be the easiest thing, as long as there aren't a lot of other characteristics of the start parts that are needed. For me it was theoretically better, too, because I was now working with "latest version" parts/assemblies, rather than files that were literally created in Pro/ENGINEER back in the dawn of time, the days when we thought 32 bits was as many as we'd ever need.

Try hidden option allow_create_pdm_param = YES

Set config.pro dm_emulate_ilink_sys_parameters=yes and allow_create_pdm_param=yes are outlined in the CS article I referenced and were set.
