file open dialogue box

Hello,

Is it possible to have the search box within the file open dialogue box search Common Name instead of or in addition to Name? Thanks.

Was this topic ever answered?  We are making a modification to our companies file naming policy and this is a very important issue for this policy change.

The file open dialog box is looking at the file names as stored on 'disk'. The only way to use an alternate name would be for PTC to program the file open dialog to use the Name/Common name fields from Windchill and then open the corresponding file. BUT this would only work for those with Windchill, or another PLM, maybe, solution as those using a native OS filing structure have no way to use Name/Common Name, even though that name is in the file.

Not current functionality and certainly requires a PLM system to even be considered. Not everyone uses a PLM system.

We do use Windchill , version 10 something now. 

Can you explain further on your answer of how to have creo search for alternative names?

PTC would have to modify the file open dialog of Creo to utilize alternative names from Windchill. I was just stating that it COULD be done if PTC took the initiative to do so.

Right now, I do not see any way to do it.
