How to get data from DB

I would like to ask if I can take data from DB.
I explain myself better:

I have two mode view in my mashup: Runtime and History. Runtime is for all data from now back to one year ago, History is for all other data back from one year.

So I want to know if it is possible to make a query directly to the DB and not to the Stream.
