import/export version compatibility

I assume it's possible to export from TW 8.0 and then import into TW 8.3, but if I wanted to export from 8.3 and then import into 8.0, would I encounter issues (ignoring for a moment extensions).  Would I simply need to take care to avoid using features that are only available in the later version?

More broadly, is there any guidance / matrix  available as to which versions play nicely and those that don't when importing / exporting entities between them?

Thanks to anyone that can point me in the right direction in this matter.

Exports/imports are generally not backwards compatible and would require a lot of manual xml editing at your own risk - this would not be supported by PTC.
