To close this community thread on permission errors when checking out a component

Summary and list of references:

  • Checking out an object, specially CAD component, requires Create or Modify permissions on this Object type (eg EPMDocument), in the context and lifecycle state of the item.
    • In Windchill, such access is mainly controlled through the Policy Administrator, see article CS21934 for more details on possible actions
  • In some occurrences the users may have the proper permissions, but the Personal Cabinet or User domains are not properly set and need to be corrected in the Participant Administration, see CS264926 for more information
  • More globally, the error given is generic and Windchill administrators can be contacted with the exact timestamp when the operation failed.
    • They can review MethodServer logs that usually include more details for the error.
    • They can refer to article CS320673 for general information on Permissions, and CS78689 for troubleshooting

Hello Ankit

Please check your rights for  the product to which component belongs to, if you have only Member access you cant check out , Also check the state of that component ,if it is in released state you cant not checkout , it depends on how the configuration is made in Windchill in your company

Regards

Getting same error/message even if user has "Full Control" of the object.

Even if the user has Full Control, the file location may prevent the checkout.

Post an image of the Information page for the object.
