How to create a new part using "auto associate" from a soft type of WTPart?

Gurus,

Does anybody know if it is possible for WGM action "auto associate" to create and associate a new Windchill Part using a nominated soft type of WTPart rather than the root type?

Preference setting "Part Create Default Type" only seems to effect parts created manually.
