New version created outside Windchill & checked in with new name.

A EPM Object exists in windchill;
A new version of it was created by a third party office outside windchill using new name;
This new object was checked in as new object once its number was changed in the new version;
This new version should overwrite the older one with the old name and then be renamed to the new name right?
Now which is the best approach to fix this with the new and old files already inside the vault?

1- Export out the new one and then delete it from Windchill.

2- Revise the old to the new appropriate REV and check it out to a workspace

3- Import in the New CAD model via the Tools>Import to Workspace and ensure that it overwrites the existing one.

4- Check in
