External Merge & AAX

Is the advanced assy extension (AAX) required to create an external merge feature?  A client without AAX can create a regular merge, but the “external” pick is grayed out.

Are you in part or assembly mode? (or in an activated part or an activated subassembly in assembly mode?)

Doug, yes - External Merge / Inheritance require AAX
