Is "insert mode" working in WF4?

Is "insert mode" working in WF4?

Has anyone seen these? Product improvements?

The "Insert Here" marker is in the correct spot in the tree, but as soon as I assemble a component, it ends up at the end of the tree after all the supressed components.... WF4, M100..

Also, using query select, the first feature or component doesn't highlight- the second one does, and I can hit previous to highlight the first..... Weird.... (Pre-highlite turned off)

Me too, I don't remember it always working the way it seems to now, it
used to insert the new items at the insert here pointer, I thought that
was the whole idea behind "insert here".

I would like to see it fixed too.

Actually, I've been having problems with that in WF3 as well.

Early builds of WF3 were terrible with models that had a footer. Caused
us a lot of trouble since all of our models have component interfaces
built in from the start part. WF3 'converted' prior models, moving the
component interfaces to the footer automatically. We then couldn't even
drag the insert her line around, it would drop in the wrong place or
just not work.

It was fixed rather quickly, so unless you are using an early build of
WF3, it's not likely your problem. Then again, if WF4 now has issues
with the footer and the insert line ...

I'm on datecode M210, but I'm still having issues with it and creating features at the assembly level.

The action you describe is usually attributed to "dragging" the "insert
here" within the model tree. I have found that using the "Edit",
"Feature Operations", "Insert Mode" ,"Activate" is much more robust and
hasn't given me the problems as described. It still means that the
original "dragging" is broken.

The menu based approach also has the advantage that you can make a mapkey
for it.

Ahhh... wouldn't a right-mouse-click; "INSERT AFTER" in the model tree
(or on a highlited part) be nice?

That's a request going on 15 years!

Have a good weekend.

It's in WF5 now!

Saladworks has it. There's a very short list of a few things in SW that
I wish Pro|E had, and this is near the top.

That's the first of the enhancements that has truly made me sad that I
won't get to work on WF5 for likely another year. Our clients are
notoriously slow to upgrade. If it ain't broke and all that.

Wow, I use that feature all the time. Good thing you guys point this
out, I'll add this to the list of things to check in case we ever want
to upgrade.

The "Insert Here" issue described is a bug that is supposed to be resolved in WF4 M110, it started showing up in later builds of WF3. It's related to the Model Tree footer, if you don't have a footer you shouldn't experience the symptoms.

We're on WF4.0 (M080) and never use footers in our models, but I've experienced this problem from time to time. Using Richards, "Feature Operations", "Insert Mode" ,"Activate" has always been my backup and it ALWAYS works. It's like pre-wildfire, "Feature, Insert Mode".

Ahh the good old days <g>.

Bob

WF4 is at least on M110, which is what we are running and don't have
that problem... seems "fixed" to me... 😉

If you are in an assembly, and have one of the components "active", the drag insert mode within that component will not work. Try getting out of active mode (click the green checkmark), and then you can move the insert mark, but then remember to make that component active again.

Do you ever clip suppress when a feature fails only to find the insert
arrow at the end of your tree? And then you can't drag the insert arrow
above the clipped features?

Another advantage to using a mapkey as Lyle mentioned is to defeat this
problem.
