Locate Part in Viewport by selecting in the Model Tree??

Locate Part in Viewport by selecting in the Model Tree??

Creo Parametric 3.0, how can I locate a part in the Viewport
by selecting it in the tree?
My Assembly has thousands of parts, many VERY small.

Picking on one part DOES NOT make the part jump out enough to find it.

I know you Locate in Model Tree going the "other way"
but how can you Locate in the Viewport by selecting from the Model Tree?
Is there a Zoom to Selection or some other command? Isolate?

Imagine an entire car very detailed and needing to find a single small nut.

The car has too much detail for a single small nut to "jump out" at you by selecting it in the tree...

Please help!

Thank you.

Locate in model tree is as of now.. not any further

There is an option called enable_selection_glow yes in the config.pro that may help.

See this discussion for more info.

My search for Fixed Placement shows items highlighted in the Model Tree but I need

to find their exact location in this vast assembly.

This is very cool and it helps with the "larger" of the (small) items

but with the really small ones it is still not enough.

Nobody has ever needed to do this before?

I can't believe I can't find any other posts on this subject.

I was just wondering if there is some other option or workaround?

ON a side note, thanks for the list of config.pro items.

Anyone have a list of "Must Use" out of all those settings/options?

There is definitely no "one size fits all" config settings. Everyone's requirements are different.

As far as locating the part, Creo 4 has the zoom to part option, so there was a need and PTC addressed that, but not in Creo 3.

Well, Creo 4 is NOT an option where I work.

I will wait a while to see if anyone else has any creative input for this issue within Creo 3.0.

Creo 3.0 is the world where I live and work, I don't get to decide WHEN we upgrade.

If not, the solution is:

There is NO SOLUTION in Creo 3.0.

Agreed. I'm still on 3 also. Corporate makes all upgrade decisions for me too.

Some product improvements are made within maintenance releases but generally speaking, other than bug fixes, most product enhancements or functionality changes are made on the major releases.

Maybe someone will have a solution or an acceptable work-around.

Maybe as a workaround until you get to Creo 4. Right mouse button over the file in the Model Tree and select Activate. At least at our company, every other part except the one you selected will be transparent. When you are done, select the top level assembly and reactivate.

My reply should have been under the "enable_selection_glow yes" post

In Creo Parametric 4.0, you can select the object in the model tree, right click, and select zoom to selected objects bounding box.  I don't believe the option was in 3.0.
