Model accuracy

Hello,

I've started my all templates working with 0,005 mm absolut accuracy. I've been talking with the guys in CAM programming, and their software is working with a tolerance of 0,02mm, which is a larger tolerance, compared to the one I'm using in CREO. So I was wondering to increase a bit my tolerance in CREO, for having less constraints in surfacing construction. The value that I want is 0,01 mm.

My question is, I've a few hundreds of drawn parts right now in my project. I don't want to change the accuracy one by one. So, is there any way to change all the parts for the new accuracy tolerance? How to do it?

I would not change the absolute accuracy of existing parts for the reason you have presented. If the CAM team is using Creo to create tool paths then they should match the accuracy of their workpieces to that of your design which is tighter than the current spec. If they are not using Creo then it will not matter as the parts will go through translation.

You will very likely have regeneration failures when changing accuracy of parts of any complexity. If you decide to do it then use batch processing for automation.

You need to question the purpose of such a dramatic change.

Does the CAM team manage to work properly with your tighter accuracy model? Is the regenerating time crippling to the point that their work is impaired? are there other issue on their end?

If not, leave it be and may you use a looser accuracy for the next new project.

If  yes, then you may move forward: there is no automatic tool to set the accuracy without the model in session. The tool of choice is ptcdbatch that described with this article:  https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS139340

Please pay special attention to the known limitations section.

You will also likely need to batch run a mapkey: https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS109444

Like said by some other comments, this will create regeneration issue so this is a decision that needs to be taken wisely and I would even go on  to say that this is an actual migration project. You may need to ask a quote to a service provider if you are not comfortable with batches and scripting tools.
