Retaining internal components in an instance assembly (family table).

Retaining internal components in an instance assembly (family table).

I have a sheet metal hsg with a lot of components assembled in relationship to it.

I am creating a family table assy and replacing the main hsg with an instance of the hsg (family table).

What will be the best way to retain all the components used in my second family table assy that were originally  assembled to the generic hsg without assembling them to the instance hsg?  TIA

Two options come to mind.

1) Use a skeleton model to constrain the components independent of the housing.

Create Skeletons for Placement References | Tutorial | PTC Learning Connector

2) Use a Notebook and declare the assembly datums which will not be dependent on the housing

Example: Automatic Assembly Using Declared Datums (ptc.com)

@tbraxton  Thank you. It looks complicated for me. Initial assy already release in Windchill, So I decided just to copy it off WC, rename and retain all necessary parts and components. Thanks again.
