Start Part Suggestions?

We are looking at moving to Creo 1.0 soon and we are going to rebuild
the start parts. Any suggestions for things to include?

Currently we have rule defined layers for axes, planes, curves, gtols.
We have a default material and color.

We have the default 3 datum planes and cys but I am thinking about
adding 3 axes as well.

I am also thinking about a rep that has no features.

Any other ideas that have worked well for you?

Chris

Named views and cross sections in the part template. Only named views in the assembly because (at least at WF4) you have to add a part to an assembly before you can make a cross section.

PTC quality philosophy: We've upped our quality standards. Up yours.

We have a rule for a hardware layer in our assembly rep, which serves to drive a rule based simp rep which omits all hardware. I also am tossing around putting a layer which includes all solid models which I can hide in drawings so that I can reference just sketches, datums, and skeletons.

You can add a part to an assembly, create the x sections then delete the part, then save this as your start assembly.

Because we do a lot of molded parts, I created a 'DRAFT_DIRECTION' plane
and draft checks based on that plane at 0.5, 1, 3 and 5 degrees. We
then just redefine that plane to match the mold part line.

Almost a month later, I finally read this.

If you assemble a part into your start assy, you can create your xsects,
delete the component and save your start assy. The xsects are retained.
